Judith Henihan

Judith was born in Dublin and studied Fine Art in NCAD, graduating in 1990.  Since moving to Co.Kildare a few years ago, she has been painting full-time from her Kilcock based studio.

During that time she has completed many commercial as well as private commissions including a series of portraits and landscapes for the OPW which hang in government buildings.

Judith has exhibited in group exhibitions in The Kilcock Gallery,The Oisin Gallery,The Frederick Gallery and RHA annual exhibitions and has had a joint exhibition in the Dalkey Heritage Centre .

Her work is in private collections in Ireland, England, France, Australia and America. At present she is preparing for a solo exhibition scheduled fro October 2007. Her current work is exploring the rural theme as still exists in Kildare. The cockerels with their mincing steps and striking plumage are evocative of farmyard choreography. The highland cattle are in direct contrast, as their bulky muscular figures suggest a pre- historic like creature on sentry watch. The suburban scenes that Judith paints are reminiscences of her time spent living in place like Dunlaoire. In her drawings from model, she strives to emphasize the sculptural quality of the figure as it emerges from the paper.
